Candidate for the Montecito Sanitary District Board

Governance on a Solid Foundation.

The Facts Matter.

A Montecito native (SBHS Class of ’88), retired Air Force JAG officer and business owner, I was appointed to the Montecito Sanitary District Board in July 2025 and was elected President in December.

The District faces decisions that will outlast everyone now serving on its Board: a long-term answer for the treatment plant, and sustained investment in 74 miles of collection-system pipe. Both reach ratepayers. These are engineering and financial questions, not ideological ones — develop the alternatives, understand what each actually costs and risks, then decide.

This is what I have brought to the Board, and it is why I am asking to continue.

Setting the record straight

A mailer went out. Here is what the record shows.

Five claims about the District, checked against the permit, the Board minutes, the rate resolution and the 2010 UCSB outfall study. Plus what a real comparison of our two options has to establish before anyone can promise savings.
